The Unnecessarily Complex Life

Be sophisticated yet simple

If you stop and think, our modern culture has caused us to become too complex. Let’s not confuse complexity with sophistication.

But we all probably have too much going on. For some, the complexity comes from not having enough to do. Those are the overthinkers. They give so much thought and worry to things, they accomplish nothing.

And then flip out about it and think everything is complicated.

Back to sophistication. I don’t mean sophistication in the arrogant, “I’m better than you,” way. I mean sophistication in the continual learning sense. To not deny oneself the fulfillment of their potential.

But don’t be too complex. Don’t do too much. As much as the idea of cutting things out of life isn’t new and is over-discussed, it works. Instead of trying to do things to impress others and say you did it, maybe just step back and really do the things you want to do.

After all, if you don’t want to study finance but instead earn a degree in Medieval French History, then go for it. To do things you don’t want to, only makes life more complicated.

Step back, think. Simplify. Enjoy.
