Have you ever experienced a meeting where you didn’t understand what was being communicated?

Were you confused? Were you unintentionally misled? Did you come to a conclusion unrelated to the intended one?

Communication is often cited as one of the key skills for managers and leaders.

It doesn’t matter what level of leadership you hold. If you can’t express your ideas and get others to understand you, well, that’s a problem.

The Pace of Communication

Prior to the advent of electric communication, think Morse code, communication was…slow.

Days, if not weeks, went by before information arrived between destinations.

Leaders had time to think about decisions, if they chose to. They could consult with advisors. Plan. Strategize. And the information was limited. Whatever info you got is what you got.

Fast forward to today. Information is instant. Overwhelming, and not trustworthy.

How many bots are blowing up your social media as we speak would astonish us.
